Prosthodontics serves to restore the function of lost teeth and to provide functional and aesthetic replacements.

A partial or complete loss of teeth leads to an impairment of the chewing function, phonetics and aesthetics of the patient. In addition to purely medical aspects, the task of prosthetics is therefore also to improve the quality of life by providing suitable dentures. Common prostheses include crowns, bridges, fixed and removable dentures.

In the case of malpositioned teeth or positional deviations, orthodontics is used with the help of special appliances such as braces.
