Women in focus

Dentistry in Germany and also in other countries is becoming female. Around two thirds of all students are women. From 2004 to 2021, the number of practicing female dentists in Germany increased from 24,585 to 34,518 – the number of men, on the other hand, decreased from 40,044 to 38,165 (source: German Medical Association and National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Facts & Figures 2023, p. 14). Due to this development, we as manufacturers of dental hand instruments would like to focus on women and meet the different requirements of women and men in handle design.

In the world of dentistry, ergonomics and precision are of paramount importance. However, one area that is often overlooked is the special consideration given to the needs of women in this demanding professional field. At devemed, we therefore place special emphasis on manufacturing high-quality, ergonomic dental instruments specifically for women and delicate hands to maximize working comfort and performance. Especially in the field of extraction, attention must be paid to the different requirements: In order to grip teeth securely and with sufficient force, forceps must be appropriately adapted to small hands. For this purpose, the GES-LINE Adults SMALLedition line of dental forceps has been developed – the jaws are identical to those of the GES-LINE Standard line of forceps, but the handles have been significantly reduced in size to ensure a perfect grip for small hands.
